Tips to Live an Eco-Friendly Life
Just a few small changes can help you live a greener lifestyle.
Recycle at the Office
A long time back one of my coworkers and I went to my accountant and asked what we could do about recycling. My office has a few paper-wasters (I won’t name names here but we all know who) and it kills me that the cleaning service empties the trash cans every night. I don’t even like it that my non-recyclable tea bags in the trash mean another wasted plastic bag every night. If it were up to me, I’d tell them not to take it every day if it’s not full or smelly.
Anyway, nothing ever came of our discussions. They said no. But I recently found out that there’s a recycling center very close to my house. So a coworker and I took two of the cardboard boxes we’d used during the big office move a couple months back and drew the recycle symbols on them, and set them up in common locations for people to put their cans, plastics, and paper in. I figure, once a week I’ll drive the extra half mile (1/2 mile is there and back) to drop off the week’s recycling.
So far, it’s caught on nicely.
